Ed Bentley is one of the world's great jazz keyboard players noted principally for his work on piano and organ, but he can also play bass and guitar. Ghanaian born, Ed arrived in the UK in 1971, swiftly winning the respect of musicians in Europe and the rest of the world, where he is constantly touring with his Quartets and large Afro Jazz
Combo.
Born In Africa explores Ed Bentley's roots from his birth place in Accra, Ghana. The album brings out the jazz element in Hi-Life music from West Africa, the township blues of Soweto in South Africa and the gospel blues and funk of the USA.
Bentley's masterful use of organ bass pedals gets full expression in the album, whilst his talanets as vocalist, guitarist, pianist and bass player are all featured on the album. Due to popular demand 'Why Can't We', 'Requiem for Peace' and 'Magic Night' are all remixed and included here. Enjoy!
